# Problem with running Stardog for the first time

Hi all,

I am new into Stardog, and was wishing to bring my RDF data to the Stardog server.  
I am using Windows. Following the[manual](https://www.stardog.com/docs/?utm_campaign=Stardog%3A%20Product%20Download&utm_source=hs_automation&utm_medium=email&utm_content=57254532&_hsenc=p2ANqtz--Vl_z6D6-7F_AAqecOuj4Hh3fbw0BnBJp3Nx5OZgogtflSmU3co1fenGh_6mitC6bA7SbuMQi4n1SFw8J3Uts_zJv9Rzt12esw7yCm5DDOdjkhFuU&_hsmi=57254532#_quick_start_guide), I first got this error:

> Error: missing `server' JVM at `C:\Program Files (x86)\Java\jre1.8.0\_161\bin\server\jvm.dll'.  
> Please install or use the JRE or JDK that contains these missing components.

I then created a server folder for Java...\bin and copied the client files there, then I got this error:

> Unrecognized VM option 'UseCompressedOops'  
> Did you mean '(+/-)CheckCompressedOops'?  
> Error: Could not create the Java Virtual Machine.  
> Error: A fatal exception has occurred. Program will exit.

I found some contradicitng advice on the old google group, but was wondering if any of you can help me as to what to do.

You’re most likely running a 32 bit JVM and Stardog is expecting a 64 bit. What hardware platform are you running on?
