I just noticed that when I run a query that returns a count (e.g., SELECT COUNT(distinct ?x) ...) returns one less than the number of results reported if the SELECT is "SELECT distinct ?x". The latter appears to count the SELECT variable header row.

What version of Studio are you running? I do not see this behavior with 1.0.5.3856, unless I'm misunderstanding.
Edit: After upgrading to 1.1.1.4098 I still cannot reproduce.
I guess that I need to upgrade. I have a beta snapshot.
I will do that and let you know.
